Learn healthy ways to process grief and cope with the loss of a loved one.

Hospice Bereavement

Hospice Bereavement exists to provide support, guidance, and education through various grief programs. Caring and support from Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo continue long after the death of your loved one. Families and loved ones of Hospice patients are eligible to receive complimentary bereavement services for 13 months from the date of loss. Licensed health professionals provide hospice grief support.

The Hospice benefit fully covers the Hospice Bereavement services. We will never charge you for services provided by Hospice Bereavement following the passing of your loved one who was under hospice care in Dayton, Minnesota, including the areas of Anoka, Chisago, Hennepin, Pine, and Wright.

Our Services

Since we recognize that everyone copes with transitions in different ways, we provide the following options for support:

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is available for 13 months following the passing of a loved one in Hospice. We schedule sessions from Monday-Friday, with evening hours on Tuesdays at the main office. They are available to adults, families, and children (ages 5+). You and your counselor will determine the frequency following your initial assessment.

Bereavement

Grief doesn’t just start right after a loved one dies, nor does it end in a prescribed amount of days or months after the loss. Everyone deals with grief differently, and FAVOURED HOSPICE offers several bereavement services to support families mourning a loss and moving forward while they cope. Our staff keeps in touch with the grieving family for at least 13 months after the passing of their loved one.

Our trained Bereavement Coordinators offer:

  • Education about death, grief, and coping strategies
  • Open communication with your bereavement coordinator and other members of the hospice team by telephone, mailing, or in-person visits
  • Access and referral to supportive services such as bereavement support groups, individual counseling, and community grief support resources
  • An annual memorial celebration to honor and pay tribute to loved ones of our clients

We provide bereavement services regardless of race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability (mental or physical), contractable disease, or place of national origin.
